YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima Valley Community College Dental Hygiene Program is hosting the 17th annual free dental sealant day on Feb. 6.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Weston D. Brown Dental Hygiene Clinic off 16th Avenue, just north of Nob Hill Boulevard.
Anyone between 6 and 21 years of age can schedule an appointment.
Patients will receive a dental exam, fluoride treatment, and when needed, sealants — all free of charge. A sealant is a safe plastic coating that’s painted onto the tooth, protecting it from bacteria that can cause cavities.
Sealant Day is a collaboration of YVCC, Yakima Valley dental hygienists and dentists, Department of Social and Health Services and the Yakima Health District. Minor children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Spanish interpreters are available.
Scheduling is ongoing and will go through Feb. 5. Appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling 509-839-7215.
