Troupe from Seattle to perform play about bullying

YAKIMA, Wash. -- A troupe of actors from Seattle is headed the Yakima Valley next week to perform a bullying prevention play.

“Super School,” acted by members of the Taproot Theatre’s Road Company, will be presented at one Sunnyside and two Yakima schools March 15 and 16.

Here’s the schedule:
• March 15, 2:15 p.m., Chief Kamiakin Elementary School, Sunnyside.
• March 16, 9 a.m., Gilbert Elementary School, Yakima.
• March 16, 1:30 p.m., Barge-Lincoln Elementary School, Yakima.

The touring company’s current repertoire focuses entirely on teaching students how to prevent and respond to bullying and harassment.

“Super School” is a new play which focuses on preventing violence and helping students learn to manage their emotions. The story follows superhero kids who aren’t allowed to use their superpowers on the playground.

The Road Company has performed for more than one million students since it began touring in 1985. Its productions aim to address relevant social issues and provide youth with safe steps to approach them. 

Taproot Theatre Company, founded in 1976, is a professional, nonprofit theatre company with a multi-faceted production program.
